The Fillies Collection

The Fillies Collection

Inspired by the Horses We Love and the Women Who Believe in Them

There is something extraordinary about a filly.

She may possess grace and elegance, but beneath that beauty lies determination, intelligence, and heart. Those same qualities have always drawn me not only to horses, but also to the remarkable women whose lives have been intertwined with them.

The Fillies Collection was created in their honor.

Each pendant and piece begins as one of my original oil paintings. Through a careful process, the artwork is reproduced and preserved beneath luminous high-polished glass, allowing the spirit of the original painting to become something that can be worn and passed from one generation to the next.

For me, these pieces are more than jewelry. They are small portraits of courage.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to know women whose quiet strength changed the course of the equestrian world.

One of those women was Penny Chenery.

Long before Secretariat became a legend, Penny believed in him with an unwavering conviction that inspired everyone around her. She guided Meadow Stable through uncertain times with intelligence, grace, and determination, forever changing the history of Thoroughbred racing. My friendship with Penny and the opportunity to create artwork inspired by Secretariat remain among the greatest privileges of my artistic career. Sitting at her kitchen table, listening to her stories and sharing in her memories, I came to appreciate that greatness often begins with simply believing in something others cannot yet see.

Today, that same spirit lives on in a new generation.

In 2026, trainer Cherie DeVaux made history with Golden Tempo, becoming the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner and then adding the Belmont Stakes to that remarkable achievement only weeks later. There is a beautiful symmetry in that story, for although Golden Tempo is a colt, he carries the blood of Secretariat through his broodmare line—a reminder that some of the greatest legacies in racing are passed quietly from generation to generation through remarkable mares. Like the extraordinary women who believe in them, these enduring maternal lines shape the future long after the spotlight has faded.

Horse racing, like life itself, has always been built upon the dedication of extraordinary women. Owners, trainers, riders, artists, grooms, mothers, daughters, and friends—many working quietly behind the scenes—have carried the traditions of the horse world forward through hard work and an abiding love for the animals entrusted to their care.

The Fillies Collection celebrates all of them.

It celebrates the little girl sketching horses in the margins of a notebook. The mother who waited patiently outside the riding ring. The trainer who offered encouragement after a difficult ride. The woman who never stopped believing in a special horse.

As an artist, I have always believed that the horse reveals character. The finest horses possess both power and kindness, courage and gentleness. The same is true of the women who devote their lives to them.

Through a process that begins with original artwork and evolves into wearable art, The Fillies Collection carries that story forward—a tribute to the fillies who race, the mares who lead, and the remarkable women whose strength continues to shape the equestrian world.

Some legends are remembered for the races they win.

Others are remembered because they inspired us to believe that anything is possible.
