You have worked so hard for this moment. Your riding coat fits just right. You feel your horse’s neck bow, heart pounding, (is it yours, or your horse’s)? Focus. The power beneath you is breathtaking. Chills go up your back. You know you are riding a winner this evening. Sit straight and tall in the saddle. Hands up, heels down, chin up. The call for your class goes out. You make your entrance into the ring. You feel that rush as you enter through the gate. Showtime! Your horse is amazing. How can it be? It seems as if you are floating. Steady now, legs on, easy on the curb. Look through those ears you know so well. Call for reverse. Your horse keeps getting better and better. Find your spot on the rail; make sure the judge can see you. They are calling for the line-up. Park out. Back up when the judge faces you. Perfect. Pause as the results make their way to center ring, the trophy presenters take their place. You hold your breath. It’s your number! Your horse knows it, too! The tri-color is fastened to your horse's bridle, smile for the picture, and take your victory pass! You are now part of a historical tradition
This is your night. All of your senses are sharpened. All of that hard work has paid off. You have a champion! YOU ARE a champion!
Tonight you will wear the matching pendant and earrings to celebrate your victory.
